About My Clients
When it comes to my clientele, I understand that one approach to therapy does not fit every person. During the initial consultation and first session, I try to understand and adapt an approach specifically tailored to your goals and expectations of therapy. Building strong bonds with my clients essentially assists me in facilitating emotional growth and the ability to help you thrive throughout your therapeutic journey.
My Background and Approach
Within the professional community, I am known as Dr. Hernandez; however, most people within my life simply call me, “Joshua”. I graduated with my Masters in Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University in 2016 and pursued my doctorate thereafter. Currently, I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, and have presented my academic work locally, nationally, and internationally. My passion in practice is treating cases related to grief and loss, the LGBT+ community, anxiety, and issues revolving around sex. I specialize in working around a solution-oriented and a natural systems theoretical framework perspective, which helps my clients in inheriting strength and resources within their own lives while finding their authentic selves throughout the process. Throughout treatment, I collaborate with my clients in order to provide a safe and nurturing environment where they can feel comfortable within a non-judgmental space.
