About My Clients
Struggling with mental health can create a difficult and frustrating cycle, because you may not understand how to improve these issues or how long they will last. Facing negative feelings and relationship problems takes courage and patience. However, when you start to work through difficult problems and emotions in healthy ways, you will start to understand the power you have in your own life to find healing, meaning, purpose, and connection.
My Background and Approach
I help men of all ages work through social, romantic, family, and career challenges by improving their sense of meaning, knowledge, and self awareness during difficult times. Many of my clients suffer from mental health symptoms (stress, anxiety, depression, anger) that have negative effects on their self esteem and relationships. This creates a feedback loop that feels difficult to break, but is possible to overcome with the right environment, guidance, and an openness to change. As a goal-oriented counselor I finds therapy works best when it combines emotional healing with real steps towards change. I first work to understand who you are so we can collaborate together on a successful outcome. Once that is established, I will support and challenge you to reach that goal.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
One thing I love about being a therapist is that every person has their own unique story. My family moved many times growing up, and I have worked in many different industries and jobs prior to entering the mental health field. These experiences helped me appreciate the differences among people while also seeing the common struggles that people can face – to feel safe, loved, and connected with those around them. As an artist, I appreciate how important finding your own voice and sense of self is to living a fulfilled life. At the same time, finding connection with other people is a major part of mental health. While the answers won't be the exact same between two people, bridging this gap between our need to connect and our need to fulfill our own sense of purpose is a beautiful and difficult challenge that can be embraced in therapy.
