I have training in Cognitive-behaviroal therapy (CBT) as well as CBT for psychosis (CBTp). This is one of the frameworks I most identify with and use.
I am a certified Motivational Interviewing trainer. I have experience using motivational interviewing with a wide array of clients, it's particularly helpful for clients that are facing ambivalence about a certain issue.
I am a trauma-informed therapist and have worked and treated many clients with trauma and related disorders. I am currently training to become a Certified Complex Trauma Professional.
I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults with anxiety. I employ evidence-based practices when treating anxiety. Examining anxious thinking as well as behavior which reinforces the anxiety is an important part of treatment. Education about anxiety and the role it plays in our body is important as well.
I have training in LGBTQ+ affirmative therapy. Being an LGBTQ+ ally is simply not enough, one must understand the nuances and trauma that LGBTQ+ individuals have experienced throughout their lives. In helping clients resolve the trauma of growing up LGBTQ+ as well as how that trauma currently affects them, clients can begin their journeys to self-acutalization. In order to serve the community best, it's important to understand issues that are unique to the community.
I have worked with depression and mood disorders for many years. I use evidence-based practices to treat depression and mood disorders. By targeting depressed behavior such as lack of motivation, as well as thinking patterns that reinforce depressed moods, depressive symptoms can be alleviated.
