About My Clients
I am a bilingual (Spanish and English) Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor with more than three decades of varied clinical experience in working in medical/rehabilitation outpatient clinics. As a clinician, I have been described as warm-hearted, passionate, meeting people where they are, and always willing to acquire new skills while progressively building upon existing ones.
My Background and Approach
For the past 30 years, my practice has been focused on helping people with anxiety, depression, and substance use disorder. I have attended extensive trainings that teach leading edge techniques. My clinical orientation is based on models such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I understand that sharing one’s lived experience is a process that takes courage and happens within the context of a trusting alliance built over time. I focus on building a professional and respectful relationship with clients from the moment we meet. Each individual is an expert on their story and my role is to listen with openness, patience, and compassion to provide a journey toward healing, recovery, joy, and hope.
