My Background and Approach
My name is Jordan Schaefer, and I am a licensed clinical social worker and the owner and therapist of True Image Counseling. I believe authenticity and personal acceptance are at the heart of healing. Humans are more than a series of labels or checkboxes, and your therapist should be ready to work with all of you, no matter how complicated and beautifully messy your experiences have been. I bring over 8 years of clinical experience, including work with the foster care system, family systems, community mental health, LGBTQIA+ communities, acute mental illness, substance abuse, and domestic violence rehabilitation and prevention. My approach is rooted in trauma-informed care, radical acceptance, authenticity, intersectionality, compassion, and science-grounded interventions. I draw from modalities like ACT, CBT, DBT, Internal Family Systems, and somatic therapy to meet your unique needs. I specialize in gender-affirming care for all ages as outlined by WPATH, work with neurodivergent i
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe humans are more than a series of labels or checkboxes. Your therapist should be ready to work with all of you, no matter how complicated and beautifully messy your experiences have been. I believe in authenticity over professional image, radical acceptance, and meeting you exactly where you are. Healing does not require you to shrink, mask, or perform. It requires a space where every part of you is welcome. That is what True Image Counseling is built on. You deserve a therapist who is as excited about your goals as you are and who genuinely cares about the person behind the diagnosis.
