About My Clients
I best serve folks identifying as mothers and/or birthing parents who are experiencing distress at any point in their journey to parenthood. Whether you are experiencing increased anxiety and depression due to external factors like family dynamic changes, lack of support or a traumatic event, or internal factors like shame, perfectionism or low confidence - all are valid and all can be helped through a supportive therapeutic relationship and evidence based tools.
My Background and Approach
Because of my background as a social worker, I see people's strengths and pain within the context of the systems they are in. Family systems, larger social and cultural systems, as well as our own internal systems affect the way we feel and heal. I utilize this systems lens to help you better understand your struggles so we can tailor helpful strategies to your unique situation. Options for our approach include: Brain-based strategies such as Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Mindfulness -based strategies such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), breathing practices, progressive muscle relaxation, and others Psychoeducational strategies regarding attachment and neurobiology to help you better understand your brain/body connection
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My ultimate goal is to create a space in which you feel safe and free of any judgement. I believe that with the right support, everyone can grow and everyone deserves that chance to grow. I started this work because the disparities in care that parents and especially parents of color receive in this country does not support individual or collective wellness. Mothers and birthing parents deserve to feel supported and confident.
