About My Clients

Clients tend to be insightful, ambitious, and used to figuring things out alone. From the outside, everything looks fine. Underneath, something feels off. Things haven't fallen apart yet, but there's a constant question underneath about how much longer the act can hold. Struggling quietly feels safer than risking anyone seeing it as failure. Keeping it hidden isn't weakness, it's protection, and often pride. Sessions are shaped around each person, not a fixed script.

My Background and Approach

I spent years as a chemical engineer, then got an MBA, before training as a therapist. That path says a lot about how my mind works: understanding systems, finding where something is actually breaking down, not where the pressure shows. Moving into counseling, I found I was doing the same thing, with people instead of processes. That's the lens I bring into the room, along with real interest in how analytical, pattern-driven minds get stuck, and work through it. The approach draws from CBT and ACT together. CBT handles the practical side: thought patterns and the actions that follow. ACT handles the harder to pin down side: feelings, values, and the gap between what someone wants life to look like and what it looks like now. Together, they cover how a person thinks and what a person actually wants. The goal throughout: helping clients understand themselves more clearly, see reality without the usual distortions, and get a better sense of how they show up and interact with the world.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Struggling with something isn't a character flaw. It usually means a skill hasn't been built yet, or a system that used to work stopped working under new conditions. Everyone learns things at different speeds. Struggling to learn something quickly doesn't mean it can't be learned. Emotions aren't a problem to solve. They're information, even the uncomfortable ones. Avoiding the hard feelings usually means missing out on the good ones too. The two aren't separable. Fitting in and being understood are basic needs, not extras. For people who've spent years working out unspoken rules that come easily to others, that effort is real, even when it's invisible from the outside. None of that means something is wrong with the person doing the work. It means the effort has been happening quietly, for a long time, without being named.
