Low self-esteem is a drag. It limits us from achieving dreams. It may even cause us an inability to dream. It limits our ability to form meaningful relationships, advance in careers, come out, transition and more. It also causes us to create false narratives and rigid rules that further limit and drag us down. The good news is low self-esteem can be changed. I will help you shift the negative core beliefs to positive beliefs with EMDR and/or Brainspotting therapy.

I have worked extensively with folks identifying under the LGBTQI+ umbrella and their loved ones, including providing WPATH letters for gender confirming surgery. I also provide therapy to long-term survivors of HIV/AIDS and senior members of our community seeking therapy for aging-related concerns. I also provide trauma therapy to our community, understanding and affirming that the LGBTQI+ journey is unique for each client's lived experience and doesn't fit into a cookie cutter mold.

This is a specialty area of practice for me. I was trained in a graduate program classified as an Advanced, Trauma-Informed Clinical Program. I have done extensive training since, as an EMDR therapist and a Brainspotting therapist. I have a history of working with survivors of both single-incident traumas (example: a car accident or one event) and those who have experienced multiple or lifetime of traumas. When you are in the presence of an attuned therapist, healing is possible.

EMDR has been shown to help those suffering from the burden of their trauma history. It has also been shown to be highly effective as a way of helping clients looking to shift out of negative beliefs that are holding them back from living a fulfilling life. Most clients report being at peace with the issue they came into therapy with, gaining insights about what happened to them and are able to move on from therapy feeling more free and less burdened by the issue that brought them here.

This is a focused approach to resolving clients' presenting issues that goes directly to levels of the subcortex brain where our cognition, social functioning and affect are controlled. Brainspotting gives our bodies the ability to heal by tapping into this system and identifying the exact spot in your brain where the issue that you have is stuck. Through intense focused mindfulness on this "brain spot," and deep attunement of the therapist, we discharge bad memories in the nervous system.

Mindfulness-based therapy is integral to healing from traumas and other presenting issues. It allows us to slow down and bring awareness to the present. When done with a therapist, this provides the opportunity to address difficult subject and emotions that may come up in a safe way. Additionally, training to be more mindful allows us to be more present in our daily lives and self-regulate ourselves.

I have assisted many clients become freed from the burden of trauma memories from sexual abuse or assault.

I have assisted clients who are survivors of sexual abuse or assault. I have worked with past clients on desensitizing negative beliefs about self because of the abuse or assault using EMDR and Brainspotting. I have also worked with clients who become triggered and have flashbacks to the abuse or assault. Through EMDR, we shift the automatic reaction to these triggers and in the process, past clients have become freed and clear of the burden of these awful memories.
