About My Clients

I particularly enjoy working with adults in midlife and beyond who find themselves asking, What now? A career may no longer feel meaningful. A relationship may be changing or ending. Parents are aging and suddenly need care. Children grow up and leave home. Our bodies change. Retirement approaches. Or perhaps nothing dramatic has happened at all, yet there is a growing sense that the next chapter of life needs to look different from the one that came before it.

My Background and Approach

Jordan-Buell Hunt, LCSW (he/him) comes to Collaborative Change and Wellness with over 25 years of clinical experience and having provided treatment at all levels of care. Jordan has received advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Family Systems. He served as an adjunct professor at Rutger’s Graduate School of Social Work for over 10 years, has been a guest panelist at the Psychotherapy Center for Gender & Sexuality in NYC and has offered staff trainings at Yale New Health Hospital on the topic of Using Alternative Approaches to Conceptualizing Gender. Jordan believes in creating a safe and comfortable “space” in which clients feel at ease sharing their personal narrative, which often illuminates one’s innate wisdom and personal coping style. Jordan believes in the transformative power of mindfulness and often utilizes such an approach in conjunction with other therapeutic approaches.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Outside of my work, I'm drawn to history, architecture, gardens, old houses, and the stories that connect people to places and to one another. I'm currently restoring an early nineteenth-century Federal home in Connecticut—an undertaking that has taught me quite a bit about patience, unexpected complications, and knowing when something needs to be changed versus when it simply needs to be understood and cared for.
