Many people accept feelings of inadequacy as a fact of life, like their nose or ears. They don’t think it is something they can change, because this is how they identify themselves. They simply can’t imagine they can be any other way. They have likely heard friends and family tell them they shouldn’t feel this way, but this just leads them to feeling isolated, and misunderstood. Psychotherapy can lead you to becoming a truer, more confident version of yourself.

Regardless of how it’s showing up in your life, anxiety might seem like a barrier preventing you from fully experiencing your potential. You may be struggling with such intense, consistent worry that you’ve developed physical symptoms, such as stomach aches, nausea, or dizziness. And, when life grows stressful, these looping worries might feel extremely uncomfortable, and at worst, completely inhibiting and debilitating.

I borrow from a number of different practice theories, and adjust my method to fit the individual. Depression means something different for everyone. It may be something that has come upon you recently, or something you’ve been dealing with as long as you can remember. Psychotherapy can help give you a new perspective on problems with family, friends, or co-workers, and see the world, and yourself through a new lens.

My training is in psychoanalytic psychotherapy but I am not a strict Freudian by any means. I believe that we are impacted and influenced by our unconscious processes, and making those unconscious processes conscious, can mean making better, more informed decisions, that makes more sense for the person we are becoming, rather than following a narrative that we internalized in our earliest years.

I believe that we are largely products of our experiences, most significantly those that happened early in our lives. Therefore helping you explore your past to understand how it may be impacting your life, is often an important aspect of treatment.

I don't believe psychotherapy is a one-size-fits-all treatment. I tailor each person's treatment to the individual, so that it makes the most sense for who you are, where you are in life, and what you are looking for.
