About My Clients
I help support individuals and couples working with relationship issues, sex and sexuality, life transitions around work and family, grief and loss, addiction, and anxiety and depression. I specialize in working with LGBTQ and alternative relationship communities, parents of any age or life stage, couples wanting to repair their intimacy, and individuals working towards a greater sense of meaning and purpose in life. We can work long-term or focus on immediate concerns, depending on your goals
My Background and Approach
I help support individuals and couples working with relationship issues, sex and sexuality, life transitions around work and family, grief and loss, addiction, and anxiety and depression. I specialize in working with LGBTQ and alternative relationship communities, parents of any age or life stage, couples wanting to repair their intimacy, and individuals working towards a greater sense of meaning and purpose in life. My approach to therapy is grounded in relational, psychodynamic thinking. This means we attend closely to how you navigate the task of relating to others, paying attention to past relationships, your present life, as well as the connection between us as it shows up in the therapy room. I also integrate techniques and approaches that draw from mindfulness practice, attachment theory, existential/humanist thinking, and cognitive behavioral therapy. I hold a BA in Literature from UC Berkeley and a MA in Counseling Psychology from JFK University.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone deserves to be heard, seen, and believed, to tell their own story and have that story listened to with compassion and empathy. I believe especially in the right of marginalized and 'othered' folks to have a safe space where they can be validated and understood. For this reason I especially make sure that folks who identify as outsiders, whether queer, poly, kinky, disabled, or POC, know they have a place free of judgement that they can reply on as a support in a sometimes hostile or uncaring world.
