About My Clients
Some things in life can feel really big and overwhelming. Working with a therapist can help you develop skills to make those 'big' things feel much less daunting. As your therapist, my role is to help you discover what works for YOU, in the context of your own life. I am here to help you unpack, understand, heal, grow, and ultimately build your own 'life toolbox' to use when things feel really big again.
My Background and Approach
Much of my work has been centered around helping folks with self esteem, acceptance, coping skills, psychoeducation, navigating identity, and major life changes. I am a part of and specialize in working with the transgender community, but I am happy to work with people from all walks of life. Taking a person-centered, humanistic approach to therapy is important because everybody has a unique story, identity, culture, and goal. My priority is to meet clients "where they are", which means my treatment approach adapts to client needs. I have experience with the following therapy types: Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Narrative, Motivational Interviewing, Strengths Based, Solution Focused, Psychoeducation, and group. I am completing the licensure process to become a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a social worker, I take the various systems are we are a part of, minority stress, and social determinants of health into strong consideration when working with a client. Taking a holistic approach, meaning understanding and supporting a WHOLE person (not only their mental health), is important in and out of the therapy chair.
