About My Clients
My clients want to have a life worth living! Whether the challenges to that goal are known or still a mystery, they have probably found that their friends, family, and colleagues have not been helpful in creating sustainable change. My goal is to come along side my clients with a fresh neutral perspective . I help people suffering from trauma, anxiety, life changes, grief, and depression.
My Background and Approach
I've been working as a therapist for the past four years, supported by my previous ten years as a professional social worker. I have served individuals and families (children, adolescents, and adults) in community, outpatient, and residential settings. I believe that therapy is the most impactful when clients and their therapist work together, as equals, to create an environment built on authenticity. Shared humanity, client insight, and evidence based approaches drive treatment forward, reducing barriers to success and enhancing client strengths. My approach to treatment is trauma informed and combines person centered cognitive-behavioral therapy with the skills of mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotional regulation. I often seek to incorporate adventure and experiential approaches into treatment. Life is an adventure, why should therapy be any different?
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone deserves to have a life worth living, and that we can make a choice for growth and change at any time. Therapy is not something that takes place between two points on a clock. It is the process of changing learned behaviors and replacing them with behaviors that help us create a life more aligned with our ideals. Identifying our barriers and developing strategies for overcoming them can be very difficult and sometimes it requires a little help to see the forest through the trees. As an avid hiker and lover of the outdoors, I know that anyone can find themselves lost in the woods from time to time.
