About My Clients

There are points in life when you realize that your trajectory is changing. Your focus and your goals are shifting . This can be a time when you see new possibilities but also confront new problems, like caring for aging parents, figuring out the dual challenges of saving for retirement and kids college, or just coming to terms with your no longer youthful body. The stress and worry that comes with these issues can be overwhelming. I will be there to help you navigate these challenges.

My Background and Approach

I have a master’s degree in social work and am a certified financial therapist and financial coach. I spent a couple of decades working in the IT business and, over the past 15 years, I’ve done volunteer work in a range of nonprofit services that have helped me grow my social work and therapy skills. A few years back, I decided to return to my true passion, helping others. At this point in my life, my goal is to use my training and lived experience to help couples and individuals think, feel and behave in more positive ways in situations that involve money. I use financial therapy principals coupled with narrative therapy and solution focused brief therapy. I don't have answers, but I believe I can be a good resource for providing a safe space to explore the questions. I firmly believe that as we work together to uncover the questions, you will find the answers.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My core belief is that we have an obligation to be here for each other. I’ve tried to deliver on this in various ways, in part through volunteer activities. I am on the Board of the Boulder County AIDS Project and have been part of a local Restorative Justice program for many years. I work to incorporate restorative practices into my everyday life. I am also a certified financial therapist as I believe that money can be a powerful emotional force in our lives that is often neglected in therapy. I decided to do this “career relaunch” because I want to make a positive contribution to the lives of those around me. At this point in my life, I think I have the skills and insight to be a useful resource for my peer group and others. In therapy, I believe my first job is to be a caring person who is ready to listen. I seek to combine this with empathy that is supported, in many cases, by aligning my client’s experiences with my own.
