About My Clients

I enjoy helping people who are ready to make the changes they need to make in their lives to mend their mental health, improve their lives and relationships, and/or achieve their goals. I work with teenagers and adults from various walks of life who struggle with depression, anxiety, burnout, relationship issues, and trauma. I also work with first responders and veterans with trauma, hypervigilance, and other issues that come with the job.

My Background and Approach

John's professional background includes community mental health, crisis intervention, and case management, with experience working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use concerns, and severe and persistent mental illness. As a former police officer, John has a particular interest in working with first responders and other high-stress professions, and understands the cumulative effects of repeated exposure to crisis, trauma, chronic stress, and high-pressure environments. He works with clients experiencing burnout, hypervigilance, emotional exhaustion, relationship difficulties, and other challenges that can develop within demanding helping professions. John also enjoys working with young adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about their direction and helps them clarify their values, strengthen coping skills, establish healthier boundaries, improve emotional regulation, and navigate interpersonal conflict.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

John approaches therapy collaboratively and with respect for each client’s experiences, strengths, and perspective. He believes clients are the experts on their own lives and works alongside them to identify meaningful goals, build greater stability, and develop practical skills that support lasting change. He also values the importance of personal narrative and believes that understanding and making sense of one’s experiences can be an important part of processing the past, developing a stronger sense of purpose, and moving forward with greater intention.
