My Background and Approach
Therapy is a collaborative experience that is based on safety, respect and empowerment. There's a great deal of healing that comes from experiencing a secure relationship like this. My clinical work centers around treating substance abuse/addiction issues, relationship stress, general stress, and trauma. I have worked in a variety of treatment settings such as jail and inpatient substance abuse treatment centers in several different roles
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe pain and uncertainty are two of life's biggest constants but I also believe that we don't have to face it alone. These situations, these crises are an invitation to do things differently. The uncomfortable feelings are a sign that something needs to change. The help of a trained therapist helps navigate psychological change, and rewire old patterns and neural pathways in your brain to create change that lasts. We actually become stronger if we are able to share our struggles with and receive consistent, non-judgmental support from others.
