About My Clients
Are you needing to sort some stuff out but in need of an objective, neutral, and secular (nonreligious) place to do so. Whether you've been harmed by a high-demand religious group or are deconstructing some previous beliefs, I know that it's important to know that there's a private and non-judgmental place to do that. The existential dread, the anxiety, the loss, the need to redefine self and a sense of purpose - all real. I've been there and I can help.
My Background and Approach
Clients I work with often say they like my active, engaged, and solution focused approach to therapy. Sure, I'll listen - but I'll also provide honest observations and sound evidence-based interventions and strategies that you can start putting to use right away. My work is often grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which uses mindfulness to help clients accept their thoughts and emotions while committing to value-driven actions. Rooted in principles akin to Buddhism, ACT emphasizes present-moment awareness and embracing life’s challenges without resistance.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe people are capable of growth and change - and that it's possible to find a personal philosophy that brings meaning and purpose, even when what used to do that for us is gone.
