About My Clients

I work with first responders, firefighters, paramedics, law enforcement officers, and healthcare workers who are ready to address the toll of their profession. My clients are often high-functioning people carrying more than they let on — managing stress, trauma, or burnout while still showing up for others every day. If you're used to being the one who holds it together, this is a space where you don't have to.

My Background and Approach

I came to therapy through the back door. Before earning my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Central Florida, I spent over 30 years as a firefighter paramedic — responding to calls, making impossible decisions, and carrying the weight that comes with the job. I know what it means to push through, compartmentalize, and wonder quietly if what you're feeling is normal. That experience shapes everything about how I work. I bring a practical, nonjudgmental approach that respects the culture of emergency services and helping professions — and helps people understand what their experiences have cost them and build a path forward. My approach integrates ACT, Gestalt, and trauma-focused care to help clients process difficult experiences and reconnect with meaning and purpose.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that asking for help is one of the hardest and most courageous things a person can do — especially for those whose identity is built around being the helper. The culture of emergency services and healthcare teaches people to push through, stay strong, and protect others. That same culture can make it almost impossible to admit when you're struggling. I believe everyone deserves access to quality mental health care regardless of their financial situation, which is why I offer sliding scale fees and accept insurance. I'm committed to reducing the stigma around mental health in first responder and healthcare communities — not through campaigns or slogans, but one conversation at a time. Every firefighter, paramedic, nurse, or officer who walks through the door and does the work makes it a little easier for the next one to follow. I also believe therapy works best when the therapist genuinely understands your world. That's not something you can learn from a textbook.
