About My Clients

If you are having trouble with relationships, moods, fears, or more serious issues like trauma, behavioral problems, hallucinations, sexual or gender discomfort, or major depression, and you want to take these problems on to improve your life, I am here to help. I work with individuals, couples, and families; my special interests include the deaf (I sign), gifted/talented children/adults, Native Americans (worked in Indian Country), minorities, underserved people, and those involved in the arts.

My Background and Approach

The son of a psychologist, I knew I wanted to be a therapist from an early age, but was distracted by talent in the arts. After an undergraduate degree in Theater, and working in elementary schools, I completed an MFA in Acting/Directing, teaching at a historically Black university and a mainstream college, especially courses in Interpersonal Communication, which taught me information and skills I still use in my life and my practice. Having gained a masters in Counseling Psychology and a moderate fluency in American Sign Language, I became a Vocational Rehab (VR) Counselor, and worked with people with all sorts of disabilities, from COPD to schizophrenia, including as a specialist in deafness and hearing loss. I also worked with active-duty military and veterans at the VA hospital every other week. Moving to Las Vegas, I became director of the only Native American vocational rehab program in the state for the Paiute tribes before earning my therapist's license.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Being human, you and I are subject to so many complications, surprises, stresses, disappointments, challenges, and even traumas, loss, isolation, and other severe circumstances in our lives, past and present. It is no wonder we could all use some help at times; and that is my calling in life. As the son of a psychologist, I grew up with an awareness of these life difficulties and the good fortune of expert guidance. That helped, along with formal education, to prepare me for a career chosen early in my life but achieved later, due to my pursuit of other interests in arts and the specialty of deafness. Yet, those other formative fields enhanced my understanding of human depth and the communication skills that can help get a person through troubled times and experiences. If you are seeking help, I am ready to offer my commitment to hearing you, helping you formulate a plan of treatment, and working with you on goals we will establish together for a more functional and happier life.
