About My Clients
Sleep problems often come with stress, anxiety, trauma, grief, disordered eating, chronic pain, and other struggles. If you've dealt with insomnia for a long time, you may find that you go through most days on "autopilot," not having the energy to do things that matter to you. You may also have a harder time coping with stress and burnout and snap at the people you love. You may even have anxiety about sleep and dread going to bed each night. Effective treatments exist, and I'm here to help.
My Background and Approach
My mission is to help you reclaim restful nights, using non-medication strategies based on CBT-I, the gold-standard insomnia treatment, so you can look forward to sleep again. In addition, I use evidence-based therapies to help people process grief and trauma, develop a more balanced relationship with food, and cope better with chronic illnesses and pain. I draw from cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, and acceptance and commitment therapies to tailor our work to your unique concerns and goals. My approach is collaborative and trauma-informed. I strive to create a safe space where you feel empowered to grow out of patterns that are no longer helpful and reconnect with what matters the most to you. If you think we might be a good fit, please reach out for a free consultation.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I decided to specialize in treating sleep problems because I believe that sleep is the cornerstone of our physical and mental wellbeing. When we are chronically sleep deprived, it's hard to focus on other issues we want to focus on in therapy or deal with stressors, which can in turn lead to more restless nights of tossing and turning. When sleep becomes easy again, most of my clients find that they have more bandwidth to cope with stress and address other chronic issues during their time in therapy. More broadly, I believe systemic oppression create health inequities and can have an immense impact on our emotional and physical health. My work is LGBTQ-affirming, trauma-informed, and I focus on health and wellbeing for people of all sizes regardless of weight. I also have a special interest in supporting people navigating the complexities of immigration and acculturation. I strive to create a safe and collaborative space where all parts of you are welcome.
