About My Clients
I specialize in working with clients who have struggles with their relationship, parenting, or family life. Trying your best and not seeing change can be frustrating. It can be hard to figure out what’s next when you keep trying and things aren't getting better. I specialize in working those experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, family issues, and relationship issues. I also provide support to new parents during postpartum and pregnancy.
My Background and Approach
I recognize that each individual is unique and my approach will be based on what is best for you. I focus on utilizing Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy or Solution Focused Therapy. Once you determine a goal I will help you gain understanding of your thought process and skills needed to reach your goal. Change does not happen overnight so I will give you the tools needed to incorporate intervention strategies into your every day life. You will always something to reflect on after sessions. I will always encourage you to give yourself grace and time.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that every person can benefit from counseling. There are many who overlook the importance of taking care of their mental health and this often stems from stigmas. I have a personal goal to break stigmas in communities that suffer silently from mental health struggles. I was born in such community, as I am a black Caribbean woman. With that said, I am happy to see that over the last few years, I have seen great advances in members of my community embracing counseling and I desire to see more and more. Family is very important to me which is why I am passionate about restoring family systems. Through my own experience and trainings I learned the importance addressing maternal mental health and parenting issues.
