About My Clients
My heart lies with treating eating disorders, body image, and trauma— these issues are really what I’m most passionate about. Because trauma and eating disorders often go hand-in-hand, most of my clients have a comorbid diagnoses of an eating disorder and PTSD. I use an empathetic approach when assisting clients healing from trauma and PTSD, eating disorders/disordered eating, and negative body image. A trusting therapeutic relationship and feelings of safety take priority in my practice.
My Background and Approach
I obtained my Bachelor and Master of Social Work at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. My clinical experience was developed through my work at a rape, crisis center and a my clinical experience was developed and honed through my work at a rape crisis center and an eating disorder treatment center. Because everyone has different lived experiences, I tailor therapy sessions to meet the needs of each individual client. I have a trauma-informed and person-centered treatment perspective and utilize an eclectic approach comprised of evidence-based models including CBT, CPT, DBT, and SFBT. I also provide two trauma therapy groups for additional support.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I’m authentic and intuitive in practice (and in life!). I prioritize building genuine and trusting therapeutic relationships with my clients and creating a safe space for healing. People go to therapy for all kinds of reasons. We all want to be seen, accepted, and healed. Finding the right therapist can be an important first step towards the life you want.
