About My Clients
By the end of each day, you're completely drained. You scroll through a mental list of all the things left undone, all the ways you could've done better, or more. You long to quiet your fears but are terrified of losing your drive and sense of control in the process. And so, day after day, you keep pushing yourself to meet loftier expectations. I know how it feels to live like this and juggle so many responsibilities because I've been there myself. I feel honored to support clients like you.
My Background and Approach
Stories are powerful and can help shape our reality. We'll uncover stories you've been carrying (about you, about the world) that no longer serve you and also stories of your strength and resilience. We will focus on enhancing your innate abilities with compassion, mindfulness approaches, creativity, and curiosity in our work together. I have 15+ years of experience working with individuals and groups to establish goals and create change in personal and professional settings. Counseling is a second career for me and the fulfillment of a long-term goal. With my background in health and wellness, I have experience working with clients through a variety of life transitions. There is more to creating change than just "gutting it out." My goal is to help clients find healing in a warm and accepting environment. I believe that there is meaning in our struggles and that processing our experiences with bravery and authenticity is the best way to create the growth we seek.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Our uniqueness brings something into the world that is needed, and we are stronger than we realize. However, life experiences, negative messages, and even our biology can rob us of our belief that we are worthy of love and belonging. We get lost somewhere along the way. Many of us have experienced trauma, negative messages from our parents or others, or a lack of nurturing that makes us think differently about ourselves and our world. I believe that our early experiences, while they do not define us, play a role in our development. We may become discouraged and focus on the stories of our brokenness rather than our strength. Or, we may believe we are not worthy of being fully seen and loved. These thoughts cause us to feel negative about ourselves and the world, affecting our behavior. We sometimes meet each other as broken children rather than the healthy adults we can become. I believe it’s essential that we advocate for one another & gracefully notice that we are works in progress.
