About My Clients
What’s wrong with me? Am I the problem? Why do I feel so alone? I hear these questions every day. And I get it - for a lot of folks outside the gender/relationship/neurotypical mainstream, the world feels heavy. Sometimes it’s a mismatch between yourself and the people around you. Or feeling blamed for who you are and how you see the world. Or hiding away pieces of yourself to feel acceptable. To feel likable. To be worthy. Unfortunately, there’s a cost.
My Background and Approach
It wears on us. It can contribute to loneliness, anxiety, depression, anger, and generally feeling pretty awful about yourself. If you're here, this probably hasn't been working. Stay with me now - what if there's a possibility you are worthwhile, just as you are? This is where therapy comes in. Our work together will focus on figuring what you really want out of this life, practicing standing with yourself in the midst of big emotions, and building stronger connections with yourself and others. Together, we'll get to know the parts of you that have been shut away, and notice they are not actually the monster under the bed. They might actually be worth caring for. And, we will work on building a life worth showing up for. Notice the possibility that life can look like more. And, you're not alone in this.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I’m a bit of a broken record when I start talking about meaning. Hear me out; it’s everything. The meaning we make in our lives about our self, others, the future, and what’s most important guides our every choice and the ways we see the world. If we find ourselves working together, we’re going to talk a lot about this. Life without meaning is like food without taste. The people I find myself working with each go after meaning in their own way. Sometimes, they don’t have much of a choice. When you are transgender, LGBTQ+/queer, neurodivergent, non-monogamous/polyamorous, or kinky, the world throws up a lot of roadblocks to being who you are. You often have to fight to live authentically. Sometimes, the ones throwing up the roadblocks are the people you expected to lean on. My journey to becoming a therapist was not a traditional one, but the meaning that guided me here is in serving these communities. These are my communities, too. Your identity is worthy here, and, you're not alone.
