About My Clients
My specialty area is families and couples of all varieties. My 20 years as a public elementary educator has provided me with many tools to support kids from 5-18 with a wide variety of issues. I support parents of littles, teens, and adults. I work with couples on communication, trust, emotion management, and more. I work with many individual adults as well on a variety of issues using several different modalities. I see clients ages 5-60 and enjoy this diverse group of individuals.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, but also work with many individual adults. I have a Master's Degree in MFT and a Bachelor's of Elementary Education. I like the client to be an integral part of their therapy and use many research based tools that clients can take directly into their daily lives. I have training in assessing and working with kids who have ADHD. I also have training with Suicidal Ideation and Self-harm, particularly with teens. I work with many diverse groups and try my best to be an open and safe place for clients to share their struggles. I use warmth and empathy to build rapport and work to be a non-judgmental partner in their journey of personal growth.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that all individuals matter but there are certain groups that we need to wrap around because they have been oppressed by society for many years. When I meet with clients that identify with these groups, I do my best to gain understanding and awareness about their unique circumstances. I believe that harsh judgement and criticism from society has long lasting deeply negative affects on these groups and it at times costs them their lives. I do not share my spiritual beliefs but am open to any and all belief systems that a client identifies with. I believe we should be encouraged as individuals to support one another and to find the strength inside of us to love who we are, as we are!
