My Background and Approach
Glad you are here! My name is Jia Wong and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I am the founder and owner of Gentle Journey Wellness, LLC. I was born and raised in New Jersey, and found my way to Houston, TX through years of self-exploration. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University. My next venture took me to the University of St. Thomas in Houston where I completed my masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2019. Since then I have cultivated clinical experience with clients ranging from work in racial identity, multicultural issues, chronic illness, academic success, trauma, and to life transitions. My practice draws from body-centered, attachment focused, psychodynamic, interpersonal, and culturally-centered orientations.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We are living in this ever changing terrain that we are bumping up against at every corner. Many of us are questioning what is looks like to feel fulfilled, satisfied, or to feel ourselves again. However, we end up sacrificing our relationship with ourselves and others, to fast forward through life to survive. Feeling understood and cared for are important pieces in any helping relationship. I am passionate in providing a safe space to help you flourish as we work through your challenges, concerns, and celebrations together as a team.
