About My Clients
I work with First Responders, individuals, couples, and families who feel overwhelmed, disconnected, anxious, angry, or stuck in hard-to-break patterns. Clients often seek therapy after trauma, relationship conflict, grief, major life transitions, or prolonged stress. I especially enjoy helping First Responders navigate how high-stress work affects their emotional well-being and relationships—without judgment and without having to be “the strong one” all the time.
My Background and Approach
I'm Jessy Vargas, LP-MFT, a Marriage & Family Therapist providing online therapy in New York and New Jersey. I began practicing in 2023 and earned my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Long Island University in 2025. I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Marriage and Family Therapy (DMFT) at Touro University Worldwide, with an expected completion in 2027. My work is grounded in trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and systemic care. I integrate EMDR, CBT, DBT, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman Method, IFS, and Narrative Therapy based on each client's needs. I believe therapy should be collaborative and practical—not a place where you simply talk about your problems without moving toward change. Together, we explore the patterns affecting your emotions and relationships, build healthier coping skills, process difficult experiences, and develop tools that support lasting change.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe therapy should be a space where you can be honest without having to perform, explain everything perfectly, or pretend you're okay when you're not. I value compassion, accountability, cultural humility, and the belief that people are more than the challenges they are experiencing. As a Marriage & Family Therapist, I believe our relationships and environments matter. I look at the patterns surrounding a concern—not simply the individual symptom—and work collaboratively with clients to create meaningful change. I also value making therapy accessible and culturally responsive. I offer services in both English and Spanish and strive to create a space where clients can bring their full experiences, identities, relationships, and stories into the room.
