My Background and Approach
My practice is grounded in integrated medicine for mental wellness and natural health, herbology, aromatherapy, lifestyle changes, food-mood, sound medicine, ancient practice and restorative expressive arts. In substance abuse counseling and psychotherapy, I use evidence based treatments integrated with holistic, natural wellness. Making creative projects with your own hands allows participants to have a positive impact by creating a sense of purpose, self-acceptance, interacting with others, autonomy, personal growth, and keeping the mind busy – all of which contribute to aging well and stress reduction. I specialize in integrative wellness therapies, specifically: Functional Medicine for Trauma and Integrated Medicine for Mental Wellness, Restorative and Nature Based Expressive Arts Practices, HeartMath HRV, Accessible Yoga/Tai Chi and Somatic (body based) Practices, Aromatherapy, Functional Blood Analysis, Integrated Homeopathy, Dietary Supplements, Herbology.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe health comes at any size. Chronic illness, pain, weight, mobility challenges are all embraced. In Ayurveda, diet means everything you consume. So we look at what are you intaking into your mind, body and spirit. Not just food and drink. All of these things have energy and power to impact the mind and body. I believe in natural methods before medication, in science and spirit, both. I am an interfaith practitioner and mentored Curandera. My personal experience overcoming abuse, loss from addiction, school violence, and cancer have challenged me to use the exact methods that I teach and guide my clients with. The key element is working with you in a person centered, strengths based format. I work with individuals who are open to natural intervention methods, the expressive arts and mindfulness. I am not a workbook therapist (though I was the first year or so I practiced). I have a PhD in Transpersonal Counseling, a Masters in Psychology and more.
