We all experience stress in our lives. Doctors report that stress is the basis of many primary care appointments and that stress is the beginning of many diseases. Not all stress is bad, however, and how we cope with stress depends on whether it will create dis-ease in our bodies mentally or physically. I can help you find ways that work for you to work with your stress so it can be a motivator and not an inhibitor for your own success and the life you want to live.

We all feel anxiety from time to time as it is one of the many ways our body communicates with us on the state of our well-being. For many people, however, this anxiety gets out of control and begins to take over their lives. Through all my training I have focused on how different coping skills and therapy modalities can be used to alleviate anxiety. Although many people believe that they will have to deal with anxiety for the rest of their life or they will just have to be medicated, this is often not the case. With some work and changes, you can live a life free of unnecessary anxiety.

Throughout my career I have worked with adolescents in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Teens typically state that they find me relatable and trustworthy and are able to open up more easily so we can get started sooner on the big stuff that brings them into therapy.

We often get into a battle with our symptoms, trying to push them away with everything we have. The problem is, what we resist, persists. These symptoms are often a normal part of life. Once we can release into them and stop fighting (as counterintuitive as that may sound), we can often learn to live a meaningful life no matter what is going on in our life. We work to defuse and take away the power from thoughts that are disturbing or upsetting so they no longer control you and your emotions. We often use mindfulness techniques to get into the present among other skills.

EMDR has been proven to be helpful in many different types of cases to help free you from the negative emotions and belief that have held you captive for some times many many years. The brain has a natural capacity to heal and using EMDR stimulates the self-healing process to allow memories that have been stuck to integrate and no longer be triggered.

We are energetic beings and EFT helps to send signals to the brain energetically to tell the amygdala it no longer needs to activate the fight or flight system in regards to the issue at hand. I have used EFT with many clients to clear out trauma, physical issues, addictions, anxiety, and other emotional issues.

I am trained in EMDR, an empirically validated treatment for PTSD. I use it regularly in my practice to help clients with both early attachment trauma as well as with shock trauma.
