About My Clients
I work with the LGBTQIA community and BIPOC with relationship issues, identity issues, anxiety, loss/grief, depression and trauma. I acknowledge oppressive systems that contribute to our distress and self-harming beliefs. My clients are diverse in age and background; many struggle to practice self-compassion and acceptance. I want to remind that you healing and showing up for yourself in therapy is an act of love! I am honored to support you through this difficult time in your life.
My Background and Approach
My approach is collaborative; I offer a brave space for you to show up as you are and engage in a reflective process that will lead you back to love, back to yourself. I am direct, don’t shy away from self-disclosure as needed and believe that I do not have all the answers—I can simply guide and support you in your journey. My framework of practice is eclectic, using CBT, trauma-focused and culturally sensitive interventions, mindfulness and a systems approach—together we can find a more hopeful future & start living more fully in the present moment as you regain agency in your life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
There is a misconception that something is wrong with us if we need therapy. But the truth is that humans need other humans; we thrive in community and support. I believe we heal in relationship with others, not alone. Most mental health challenges come when we feel alone or unseen. I have a strong belief in social justice and acknowledge systems of oppression that affect our day to day lives. I have a background in Political Science, Women & Gender Studies and Social Work. I find that these disciplines alongside my own identity as a first-gen Latina (among other things), have strongly shaped my framework. If you find this resonates, let’s do this!
