About My Clients
I am experienced in assisting people in recovery from both complex childhood trauma and adult relational trauma. I am well-versed in the insidious nature of emotional/psychological abuse. Recovery from narcissistic abuse is a major focus of my practice, and I offer specialized expertise in post-separation abuse and co-parenting with a narcissist or sociopath.
My Background and Approach
I prioritize helping my clients gain a deep and transformative understanding of themselves, their relationships, and their life experiences. I firmly believe in empowering my clients to develop an intricate understanding of their own patterns, recognizing how past experiences influence present functioning. Drawing from a variety of psychological theories, I create space to explore and differentiate between authentic self and the protective parts of self that have emerged in response to subtle traumatic experiences. My approach is rooted in fostering insight, self-discovery, and choosing change that actually works.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My approach to therapy is depth-oriented. While I do not believe that insight in and of itself is curative, I do believe it’s a necessary first step in the healing process. Once we gain insight into the roots of our problems, we can begin to respond intentionally when in a state of emotional flashback rather than automatically reacting with fight, flight, freeze or fawn. I believe the therapeutic alliance should be one that fosters self-discovery and healing in a safe, nonjudgmental environment.
