About My Clients
My clients are children, teens, adults, couples, and families who are ready to learn about themselves and each other, foster improved communication, and develop deeper and more meaningful relationships. My clients come from all walks of life to find a safe space to be themselves and learn, heal, and grow.
My Background and Approach
With a bachelor’s in human development and family relationships; a masters in health communications; a masters in marriage and family therapy; and a graduate certificate in play therapy, I am excited to bring the most up to date approaches, education, and modalities to the space for your benefit and growth. These include coping strategies, CBT techniques, and psychoeducation. I utilize a client-centered collaborative systemic approach to my sessions. I am here to hear you and help you untangle the jumble of thoughts, feelings, and experiences you might be working through. As a play therapist I follow a child-centered non directive approach, ideal for children with developmental delays, ASD, ADHD, and trauma. When working with the family and their child, I utilize Parent-Child Interaction therapy to help parents bond with their children and improve communication and understanding.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has the ability and strength to change, grow, and learn at any stage of their life. We engage in behaviors to fulfill a need, these behaviors then become supported by the system in which we reside (family, school, work, etc) and then they are learned and become habits: safe, consistent, but perhaps not beneficial for us. By identifying cognitive distortions and habits we can begin to process where they came from and how they fit into our lives; opening the door to healing and meaningful change.
