About My Clients
I am experienced in working with children, adolescents, and their families within a social work setting, addressing anger management, parenting approaches, anxiety, stress management, and life transitions.
My Background and Approach
I earned a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. During my Fieldwork placement I had the opportunity to intern at both a private practice and a non-profit organization. I was fortunate enough to have gained experience with clients between the ages of 8 to 70, each seeking therapy for their own unique circumstances. I use an eclectic approach drawing from different methods to best meet each client’s needs. Some of these methods include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. I take on a strength based and trauma informed perspective in helping clients work through challenges towards their goals. While I provide an empathic and supportive environment for the client to freely express themselves in, I believe the client holds all the answers to creating their desired life and therefore is the driving force behind their successes in treatment.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that each person is unique and has been shaped by the many people, places, and situations they have encountered throughout their lives. To say one size fits all would be to deny the experiences good and not so good which have molded them into the person they are today. That said, I believe that each person is the expert of their own life, and my job is to support and encourage growth through therapy in a collaborative approach.
