Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Waltham, MA
I'm trained in narrative therapy, which is an approach that recognized that just telling your story can be a healing act-but that it's even more powerful when you get to re-author your life. You don't have to keep living the same story.
I was trained the tradition of the Stone Center at Wellesley in what was then called Feminist Therapy, but is now called "Relational Cultural Therapy". This is a strengths based approach that honors not only the specific needs of women but also takes into account the ethnic and cultural backgrounds that shape our worldview. Healing happens in relationships with others, and therapy is a way to practice this.
I have had many, many trainings on different approaches, and I try to utilize the best one for your unique issues and personality. Because of these experiences, I am able to tailor therapy to fit your needs!
I have worked with women in my private practice for ten years. I chose for my practice to be female only, because I felt that women have unique issues related to reproduction and food that were not being addressed in my community. Prior to private practice, I worked with the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, as well as Planned Parenthood League of MA.
I am a "certified Intuitive Eating Pro", and have trained in Health At Every Size and Mindful Eating approaches to healing. I'm an active member of the Binge Eating Disorder Association and try to attend their conference yearly. Finally, I am co-author of "Mindful Eating Moms", forthcoming book about mindful eating while parenting. Read more here: https://mindfuleatingmoms.com/
I have several certifications and trainings in perinatal and postpartum mood issues, including the certificate training from Postpartum Support International. I have also trained with Karen Kleiman of the Postpartum Stress Center. My practice is also closely connected to Boston OBGYN, a leading group of physicians for women affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston.
