About My Clients
My specialties include: trauma, addictions, depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief/loss domestic violence, and transition to college. I have worked in behavioral health, incarceration and crisis settings that has helped me gain valuable professional experience to help those in need. I believe that each client is unique and should have treatments plans tailored to them.
My Background and Approach
I work with a client-centered approach, which means that I work in collaboration with you. We will work together in developing goals, treatment plans or gathering community resources for you to use that will benefit you. I also use cognitive behavioral approaches during counseling sessions. I believe that how we think affects how we feel and act. By changing our irrational cognitions (thoughts) we eventually are able to feel and act more rationally. This is a slow process which takes much practice in order to rewire your thoughts. It is like learning a new language. The more you practice the better you will be. My goal is to provide a safe place to explore reactions, thoughts, and feelings about people in your life as well as yourself. It allows you the opportunity to practice new ways of interacting and, when ready, to try these in other relationships.
