A tenant of relational therapy is that relationships have a large impact on our emotional wellbeing and understanding who and how we are in relationships via attachment, cultural experiences, power/oppression, and historical experiences. As a relational therapist, I understand our relationship as an important piece of the work and my relational work is heavily informed by feminist therapy.
IFS is an approach that uses a systems type of model that understands our minds via different parts. Understanding our experiences through this model can help us speak to and understand our parts, communicate with and honor our parts and then integrate our parts to create a more harmonious inner world.
Attachment Theory helps to inform and understand our relationships through a frame and with context. Via attachment theory we can gain a more comprehensive image and understanding of how we relate and why, and in that recognize and then change relationship patterns.
I specialize in issues relating to queer and trans identities and experiences, including queer and trans people, partners of trans people, parents of trans kids, coming out, unlearning shameful beliefs and narratives.
