About My Clients

My ideal question or have left a faith that once held everything. They carry grief, anger, relief, and questions bigger than therapy usually allows for. Some experienced harm inside religious communities. Others simply outgrew what they were handed. All of them sense something deeper is going on and want a therapist who won't pathologize their spirituality or rush them toward easy answers. They are ready for honest, sustained engagement with what their life is asking of them.

My Background and Approach

I grew up a pastor's son in western Montana. In my early twenties I went through my own spiritual emergency: a deconstruction that dismantled my inherited worldview and left me with harder, better questions. That experience didn't send me away from depth. It sent me toward it. I trained at Pacifica Graduate Institute, a world leader in depth psychology, in the traditions of Jung and Freud. I also hold a Master's in Transpersonal Psychology and a Spiritual Guidance Mentorship Training certificate, allowing me to work across faiths and spiritual traditions without imposing a worldview. I work analytically and relationally, attending to what emerges between us, exploring unconscious patterns, and taking seriously what your experience is trying to say. I don't reduce your inner life to diagnosis or fit you into a formula. What hurts in relationship must heal in relationship.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe every life has a shape trying to emerge, what James Hillman called the soul's code. Therapy is not about fixing what is broken but helping that shape find expression, even when the path has been disrupted by pain, loss, or inherited systems that never fit. I believe spiritual and religious experience deserves serious attention. Not pathologizing. Not cheerleading. What happens in the interior life matters as much as what happens in the outer world. I believe people who have survived high-control religion, faith deconstruction, or spiritual emergency are not damaged. They are often the most thoughtful, searching people I know. I believe therapy works best when honest, unhurried, and built on genuine trust. I will not put you in a box. I will stay with you in the difficulty and take seriously whatever you bring.
