About My Clients
Are you tired of feeling anxious, lonely, lost, or unsure of yourself? Perhaps you've found it difficult to connect to those around you or express yourself authentically. I believe that through therapy you will be able to make sense of your experiences and learn tools to reconnect to your emotions, express yourself, and create a life that feels meaningful.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in New York state and work with adolescents and adults. I specialize in trauma, anxiety and depression, mood fluctuations, relationship issues, and existential crises ranging from lacking a sense of purpose to experiencing suicidal thoughts. I enjoy working with clients from diverse backgrounds including those with different abilities, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and individuals who are neurodivergent. My therapeutic style is trauma-sensitive, compassion-based, and affirms all identities my clients hold. I tailor treatment to meet each client's unique needs and draw upon Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and relational psychodynamic therapy. I also integrate trauma-sensitive yoga, mindfulness, and somatic-based therapies into my work, which can be especially beneficial in reconnecting to emotions when talk-based therapeutic approaches may not have had the effects you desired. I also offer therapy in Spanish.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that building a relationship built upon trust is key for you to experience the powerful healing and transformation that can come in therapy. It is through this felt sense of safety that you can begin to discuss thoughts, feelings, or aspects of your identity that you have grown accustomed to hiding. While such vulnerability may be scary, it can be liberating to break free from shame and stigma. We will go at your own pace and shift between building awareness and acceptance to identifying what actions you need to take to create the life you want. I also believe therapy is most effective when traditional Western modalities (ACT, DBT, psychodynamic) are integrated with Eastern healing practices (mindfulness, somatic therapy, trauma-sensitive yoga). Through this integration I believe you will be able to reconnect to your emotions and begin to thrive in your life.
