About My Clients
Are you curious about how your exploration of your inner experiences could deepen your relationship to yourself and the world around you? My work (as a human and therapist) has lead me to believe that we are all simultaneously imperfect and good, that our relationships shape who we are, and that we have all of the wisdom we need to heal.
My Background and Approach
Throughout my work as a therapist, I’ve had the honor of sitting beside my clients as they cultivate curiosity and compassion for themselves, repair relational and systemic wounds, and recognize their ability to shape change in their lives. My therapeutic style is warm, curious, and relational. l draw inspiration from abolitionists, somatic practitioners, attachment, critical race, and queer theories. While these theories and ways of approaching challenges offer helpful tools for guiding my clinical practice, the most profound thing I’ve learned about this work is that I am not the expert - my clients are. My work is about leading clients back to the wisdom they hold about themselves and their experiences. My hope is that through our work together, you can make meaning of your experiences and build a life that is reflective of your joy, growing understanding, and compassion for yourself.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a queer, black, woman I believe that my liberation is tied to the liberation of oppressed peoples the world over. I believe that in order to create a world where every person feels the fullness of their safety, dignity, and belonging, we have to practice embodiment and make room for others' embodied experiences. I believe that the ways we practice loving in our intimate relationships and close communities shapes our world. I believe that rupture is unavoidable and repair is miraculous. I believe that flowers, colors, and flavors are some of our greatest delights. I believe that my cat, Ms. Cleo, is the cutest cat on the planet (I understand that this is contentious.)
