About My Clients
We might be a good fit if you are hoping to explore: underlying causes of sexual issues, history of purity culture or sexual shame, sexual/gender identity, kink/fetish, non-traditional/non-monogamous relationships, differences in sexual needs among partners, issues of libido/performance/arousal/desire/intimacy/inhibition, etc.
My Background and Approach
I am a queer and transgender man, a nature lover, partner, adoptive parent, and prefer to be surrounded by animals as much as possible. I grew up in the Midwest, spent years in the San Francisco Bay Area, and currently live outside Chicago with my family. In the past I have worked as a discrimination investigator, a forensic social worker for a county public defender’s office, and for an LGBTQ+ community center. I was raised in fundamentali Christianity and have since found joy and freedom in my gender, sexuality, identity, and in learning to know and trust myself. These things all inform my work as a therapist and my passion for partnering with others as they find their own healing, peace, and authentic self. I approach therapy from a relational, psychodynamic perspective, which means bringing a lens of curiosity and self-compassion to better understand the patterns that shape emotions, thoughts, and behavior and how these things have been influenced by our experiences and history.
