About My Clients
Are you experiencing things from the past hold you back from the present? Are you afraid to "go there" - or don't know where to even start? Are you tired of walking this battle by yourself? I want you to know: you don't have to do it alone. And you are not defined by your past. I aim to work together to bravely explore difficult memories and emotions, champion you in redefining and rewriting hard experiences, and ultimately, teach you the tools to continue on with a firm new hope and meaning.
My Background and Approach
Creating a completely safe environment with you is my number one priority. I aim to develop a nonjudgmental space where you can come in to feel heard, validated, and known, and hopefully, leave our space feeling warm, encouraged, and yet still challenged for growth. I believe your brain carries the natural tools to grow, and we get to uncover those tools together! I like to incorporate psychoeducation and the use of humor in sessions where it feels appropriate and helpful to you. I also enjoy utilizing tools such as memory exploration from childhood experiences and identity defining activities. However, the path of therapy is a journey that ebbs and flows, and we will tailor our time together for what feels best to you and your goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My goal as your therapist is to create a space where you can come as the complete, authentic you. Because we're dynamic beings, that might shift and change as we work together, but my hope is I will be right there with the authentic you: ready to take on the "hard stuff." I have a strong belief in the body and brain's natural ability to heal itself when given the right tools and environment. Because of this, I often incorporate the mind-body connection through mindfulness, as well as utilizing activities that stir reflection and build your sense of self worth. My practice is informed from a Biblical perspective and often incorporates spiritual disciplines and faith-based exploration.
