About My Clients
The clients that I tend to work with the most are those that have experienced trauma, whether it is an event specific trauma or cummulative. I work closely with you to explore pathways that are supportive, adventurous, and growth-filled. Many of those I work with have a history of narcissistic abuse (parental and/or relationship), diagnosed ADD, PTSD and Complex PTSD, and trauma/grief history. I also specialize working with individuals with DID.
My Background and Approach
As an individual and as a therapist, I have an expansive background working with grief, loss, major life transitions, and one of my passions lie with working with those diagnosed (or not) with DID. My approach with therapy is wrapped in a person-centered orientation where I then begin to identify different approaches that might work to enhance your therapeutic journey. I have a background in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), mindfulness, trauma -informed and a host of other modalities and theories. The bottom line is that I am always exploring, learning, and becoming an expert on new approaches and theories in order to best serve my clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
"Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and freedom" - Viktor E. Frankl. As a therapist, I believe that there are times within the space between stimulus and response, there is much difficulty in accepting natural responses to trauma while also responding with grace for self and the journey. It is my belief that therapy is a way to explore the acute responses to trauma and major life transitions while developing beliefs and responses that provide the opportunity for growth and freedom - because lets face it, that is not always easy to do alone.
