About My Clients
I have a particular appreciation for couples who feel they are on-the-brink. As a child-of-divorce I have an understanding of what that is like, along with the experiences of divorce, remarriage and both parenting and co-parenting. I am comfortable and experienced with all races, ethnicities and sexualities. I regularly offer Boot Camps in teaching Essential Relational Skills and recently have put together a workshop weekend for those who've gone through (or are going through) divorce.
My Background and Approach
My Master's degree is from New York University, in Clinical Social Work. Post-masters training include certifications as a Bioenergetics Therapist and, most recently, as a Relational LIfe Therapist (after training with Terry Real). My couples' therapy sessions are double-sessions (i.e., two hours, with a five minute break in-between them). I'm also available for individual sessions with people who are struggling with relationship issues, issues around intimacy, sexuality, infidelities, anxieties, depression, etc.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
One of the reasons I love Relational Life Therapy is that it brings challenges to the patriarchy right into the therapy room. Patriarchy is one of the biggest "isms" that has been in the air-we-breathe and has influenced the way both men and women relate to each other. Finding a way to break free of this, in relationship, has been powerful for me. I believe this can leading to happier relationships and a much-changed society. I am a vegetarian and have been since she 21. Black Lives Matter and it is pitiful that we have to fight to acknowledge that repeatedly. I believe there are many different experiences of sexualities and gender that people find right for them . I believe in adopting dogs from rescue societies instead of buying one from a store.
