About My Clients
Life is filled with moments of uncertainty, loss, and change that can leave us questioning who we are and where we belong. For those carrying the weight of trauma, complex trauma, depression, anxiety, and personality disorders, these questions can feel especially heavy. My approach is grounded in the belief that healing involves a combination of managing symptoms, confronting pain, and rediscovering meaning and connection in a world that may feel shattered.
My Background and Approach
I often work with clients who have experienced or witnessed traumatic or exceptionally difficult moments or situations in their lives. My clients are often experiencing some combination of grief, depression, anxiety, and possibly even PTSD symptoms, such as recurring troubling memories/nightmares, flashbacks, panic attacks, and/or dissociation. I work with a wide range of severity of challenges. I have particular experience working with survivors of sexual and domestic violence of all genders and am certified EMDR-trained. I often take a trauma-informed, client-centered, and eclectic approach. In your first session, we will explore what brought you to therapy, what you may want to accomplish in our work together, and what is most helpful to you in therapy. I often encourage an exploration of how our past still affects our present and try to balance managing any symptoms with self-reflection and healing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am not sure my personal beliefs should weigh too heavily in the therapeutic process, and I am far more interested in how you view your world. After all, you are the expert of your own life; I just have training and theories that help me ask good questions and help guide me to interventions you made find helpful and healing. That being said, I am a strong proponent of equality and bodily autonomy for all genders and ethnicities, and having worked with survivors of sexual and domestic violence of all genders, I have particular experience supporting female-identifying clients through issues surrounding gender inequalities.
