About My Clients
Harm reduction is for people seeking any positive change in their substance use. You may want to moderate your use, or abstain from some and moderate others. For more than a decade, I have helped people make the changes they want, not the changes that someone else thinks they should make. You are the expert on your life, and my expertise is evidence-based strategies to help you get to your goals.
My Background and Approach
I am trained as a Licensed Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor in California. I learned early on that knowing about the effects of drugs is just the tip of the iceberg. In order to become an effective counselor, I have studied, trained and practiced in a wide variety of disciplines and traditions. These include psychoanalytic theory and practice, meditation and other spiritual practices, attachment theory and harm reduction psychotherapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an open-minded and non-judgmental person, and do not engage in divisive identity politics. I support freedom of speech and thought, and challenge myself and others to challenge our beliefs on the nature of reality.
