About My Clients
I normally work with kiddos and teens, but I love working with young adults going through life changes or transitions into new seasons. As someone who is forward myself, I love to work with people who know what they want to work on, and are ready to tackle it head on. However, I also love to hold space for people that are hesitant to shed light on those scary places, I will help hold the flashlight and point where you tell me to. I want to go at you pace, and help equip you!!
My Background and Approach
I can be flexible, I like to lead with an approach that suits the client. For example, for kiddos, I utilize play therapy but for adults, I utilize an approach similar to REBT. I want to help children be able to vocalize their emotions and give them tools to communicate when they are hurt or confused. I want to let the client lead with adults, but I also want to help target self-sabotaging or harmful behaviors and talk through the root of these behaviors. Together we can collaborate and identify them, and work through what we can do to replace them. The important thing is that you, the client, feel that they have a nonjudgemental space where you know if you need to work through something scary, you have the freedom and safety too.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that people have the capacity for change, it just takes honesty and connection to build that bridge. I value honesty, kindness, and empathy. I want to hold a space where those values are the cornerstones. Growing up religious and working through my sexuality later in life, I found the bridge between those things. I think that people can learn a lot from people that are different than one another, that diversity brings learning and community. I want to create a therapeutic space that people can relearn what they value, challenge what they thought they knew, or simply go over something that stressed them out that day.
