About My Clients
You may be at a point where you've exhausted all of your resources and known means of coping, and are seeking support in navigating life's challenges. You benefit from a trusting and nonjudgmental environment that encourages you in working toward achievable goals, while going at a pace that feels comfortable. You need someone to listen and offer validation in your experiences, as well as challenge you at times to evoke change within yourself and feel confident in your ability to do so.
My Background and Approach
With over 18 years of experience working with children, teens, young adults, adults, and families in varied formats and environments, I utilize an eclectic approach when working with you to address the areas you need support in. We will work collaboratively to develop a plan that makes sense for you and I will provide recommendations for strategies to manage your symptoms. I understand that sometimes just taking the step to begin therapy is an achievement in itself, and can also come with a range of emotions and sometimes apprehension. Whether you have experienced a form of trauma, loss, significant life change, unexpected event, disruption in a relationship, or are simply not feeling yourself and can't figure out why or how to improve, I can guide you in processing and finding ways to manage so you can feel more in control of your life. We will look at symptoms and how they manifest, while developing means to reduce and even eliminate them.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe everyone has the capacity to make changes in their lives and feel a sense of empowerment in doing so. I am a strong supporter of people from all walks of life and backgrounds. I work full time in a middle school as a school social worker, and bring the added knowledge of the what mental health/social emotional supports look like in a school and ways children/teens can be supported. I am also a parent myself and have experienced the varied developmental stages from a parenting lens, recognizing we can't be perfect all the time and the continual learning curve that comes into play. I've also been on the other end of the table navigating varied systems to get my own child the support he needed, therefore I can empathize with how you might be feeling if you're seeking help for your child/teen.
