I am a licensed mental health counselor with over 20 years of experience experience working with diverse individuals in the community, private practice, and residential substance abuse treatment. Never in a million years did I ever think providing counseling to individuals, couples, families, and groups, would be the career to captivate my heart….but it is!
My Background and Approach
My specialties are working with clients who may be suffering from traumatic incidents, substance abuse, various forms of anxiety (PTSD, stress disorders), depression, self-esteem, and gender identity. In an effort to give the best practice to my clients, I have training in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR), Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy and various types of therapies to assist clients Making the decision to receive any form of mental health counseling can be taxing, however, the results are often positive and rewarding. Learning to face your fears in a healthy and appropriate manner is a sign of growth and maturity. It is not an easy task. You will cry, laugh, and maybe feel a little uncomfortable at times. This is just the therapeutic process working to make you emotionally stronger.
