About My Clients
My clients are trauma survivors—sexual assault, childhood trauma, PTSD, grief—feeling stuck, controlled by shame and fear. They avoid reminders, struggle with sleep and relationships, and carry guilt. They're tired of surviving and ready to thrive. Through evidence-based treatment, they shed shame, regain control, reconnect with life, improve relationships, and move from stuck to thriving with hope restored.
My Background and Approach
Since 2007, I've specialized in trauma treatment. I trained at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center under CPT co-author Dr. Kate Chard, gaining deep expertise in evidence-based treatments. Over 11 years, I worked with combat veterans, sexual assault survivors, and complex trauma, becoming certified in CPT, PE, and other approaches. In 2018, I launched Thrive Therapy. I'm also a certified PE Consultant through Emory University and provide consultation to trauma therapists. My Style: Fair warning—I've been nicknamed "The Velvet Hammer" (they lived to joke about it!). If you work with me, we're going to DO THE DAMN THING. I see therapy as a change agent. I'm not here to maintain symptoms—I'm here to help you squash them. I'm authentic, compassionate, and direct. I'll tackle the tough stuff with you—painful images, dark thoughts, guilt, and shame. My job is getting you maximum benefit. And yes, there will be laughs along the way!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I (Jenn speaking) practice from a foundation of feminism, social justice, and equality, advocating for marginalized communities and creating space where all identities are affirmed. I'm a proud LGBTQIA+ ally—your identity and relationships are valid here. I was raised in a strict religious environment and have since deconstructed my beliefs, identifying now as an atheist. This journey has deepened my understanding of how faith, doubt, and belief systems intersect with identity and healing. What this means for our work together: No discrimination based on identity, orientation, race, or religion. I understand how oppression contributes to trauma. Healing happens in the context of your whole identity. Your autonomy is paramount. I advocate alongside you, not for you. Bottom line: You deserve trauma treatment that sees and respects all of who you are. I'm also a huge animal lover. If you need to be talked out of getting a pet, I am NOT the right therapist for you :)
