About My Clients
I love working with people who are exploring their identities and living alternative lifestyles, particularly with people who feel like they are living in the margins of society. It can be scary to explore one's self when we fear what we might find. This issue can arise in a variety of situations from LGBTQIA issues to addiction, trauma, and phase-of-life changes. My Background and Approach
My expertise comes from a combination of personal experience and education. My first Master's Degree in Fine Arts informed my personal, psychological search for my ever-changing identity and taught me how to embrace it. My second Master's in Expressive Arts Therapy and Mental Health Counseling helped me to put creativity in the context of a psychological practice. I don't always use the arts in my practice but it helps inform the way that I conceptualize the work I do with you. I like to take the time to get to know who you are in order to tailor therapy to you specifically and I try to ask questions that will help you explore on your own. I approach the therapeutic process with a non-judgmental, trauma-informed perspective and often use interventions found in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Expressive Arts Therapy. I like to provide psychoeducation when necessary and I love discussing different philosophies.
